Cartwright Scholarship Program
In 2004, Dorwin “Doc” and Barbara Cartwright’s passion for education compelled them to establish an endowment through American Indian College Fund. The Cartwright Scholarship Program is open specifically to American Indian men with the hope of increasing the number of male students graduating from tribal colleges. Scholarship recipients are required to continue the Cartwrights’ vision by mentoring other male students in their community encouraging them to attend college. This year, we will award need-based scholarships of $2,000. To be eligible for the Cartwright scholarship you must:
- Be male;
- Have at least a 3.0 grade point average;
- Commit to mentoring other male students locally, encouraging them to attend college;
- Be American Indian or Alaskan Native with proof of enrollment or descendancy;
- Enroll full-time at an eligible tribal college for the 08-09 academic year;
- Have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and financial need.

Citi Foundation Scholarship Program
Citi believes that all people should have access to high-quality education that helps them acquire the knowledge and skills needed to find rewarding careers, manage their lives, and fully participate in society. Therefore t he Sioux Falls, South Dakota division of Citigroup and Citibank, will provide annual scholarships in the amount of $4,000 to students attending tribal colleges in South Dakota. Eligible schools include Oglala Lakota College, Sinte Gleska University and Sisseton Wahpeton College. Scholarship recipients will work together to organize a professional development component on their campus called the Citi Foundation Career Exploration Day. The Career Exploration Day will provide students with exposure to career options, leadership skills and information on the education and commitment necessary to succeed in the business world. To be eligible for the Citi Foundation scholarship program you must:
- Have at least a 3.0 grade point average;
- Commit to organizing and participating in career exploration day;
- Be American Indian or Alaskan Native with proof of enrollment or descendancy;
- Enroll full-time at an eligible tribal college for the 08-09 academic year;
- Have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and financial need.
