I am a recovering addict that needs to get out of the industry in which i work. I am responsible for my actions but the enviroment i work in has played a major role in my addiction becoming worse. I need to find a new career but dont know if there is funding available to help those in situations like mine. any response would be helpful!

I have been a stay-at-home mom for several years and also I now have almost 2 years of recovery time as an addict/alcoholic. I cannot afford to go back to school at all but I know this the the right time in my life to finally follow my dreams of being an addictions counselor. I need a grant/scholarship...where do I find one, and fast?

I am an 18 year old heroin addict, still early in recovery. I am 4 months sober and trying to get my life back together. I was really bad into it, shooting about 2.5 - 3 grams a day. Before I started using I was doing really good with my life, graduated high school at the age of 16, had my license and a nice car. But now all of thats gone. I got addicted, lost my license and my car, had no where to live or any other way to support my habbit but to sell myself. And as if all that wasnt bad enough and i wasnt only supporting my habbit but my ex-boyfriends also. Much worse had happened while i was using but all i can say nnow is I am very thankful that my mother sectioned me, if it werent for her i would probably be dead. So now, all i am doing is searching for help to try and get back into school and start my career. Any one have any advice for me? it would be very helpful!

Its more about what you are not doing than what you are doing!!! How much are you breaking the law since you have been on suboxon. I personally am not on the stuff but isn't it more about quality of life. CC who died and made you God. Recovery is personal for every person who walks on the spiritual path of life has their own recovery, mission and will please only the God of their understanding.

Charlton, why waste your time spreading lies about something you have no idea about? methadone and suboxone are medications that stop withdrawal and help addicts live a normal life without having to worry about losing their minds to opiate withdrawal syndrome. its like an anti-depressant to us. like prozac, lexapro, etc. you clearly have no idea about how opiate addiction works. unlike benzodiazapines and alcohol, you cant die from opiate withdrawal, but you feel like it. this withdrawal and abstaining from opioids drives you and your body nuts because you have ceased the production of your endogenous opioids because you flooded your body and mind with external opioids. im guessing youve never seen an opiate addict in withdrawal or to the point of -needing- their methadone dose. its like menopause mixed with PMS mixed with the worst flu ever, and throw some insomnia and chronic fatigue and bipolar disorder in there for good measure. for many people, its a total personality scrambler. you go crazy. for the life of you, you cant hold a job, its hard to hold any sort of 'normal' schedule. peaks and valleys constantly. its because at some point, it goes from being fun, to becoming a medication because you need to be high to be normal because all your receptors got thrown outta whack.
not everyone has been built, or has the ability to live in their environments healthily. meaning, we cant get everything we need to be how we are ment to be, in the environments we are in. we have work, school, kids, appointments, and soo many other things to worry about. it is of my opinion, if we could change our environments to be completely in sync with our bodies, most people wouldnt have the craving to do so many drugs. but most people cant live how we want. thats why you see so much drug use among the lower class. drugs give the feeling of being at disneyland but for the cost of a sandwich.
anyway, point being. dont knock it til youve tried it. just because the class of drugs can be recreational, doesnt mean its always taken for recreation. its the state of mind that the person is in that matters. people dont take methadone with the intent to get high, its with intent on feeling balanced and normal.
